Summary
Jaina, the eldest daughter of the Yale family, harbors a secret love for Cecil, the crown prince of the Toronto Empire. Born without the ability to use magic, she has been mistreated by her family for as long as she can remember. One day, she is suddenly ordered by her father to accept a political marriage, and her partner is none other than Cecil himself. While Jaina dreams of a happy married life, Cecil coldly rejects her, telling her, “I will never love you.” Even when her pregnancy is discovered, he refuses to acknowledge the child. Even worse, he begins to suspect that Jaina is leaking imperial information and his personal secrets to outsiders. Cornered and with nowhere else to turn, Jaina flees the palace and gives birth to the twins on her own. But immediately after the birth, tragedy strikes, the baby boy is stolen by an unknown assailant. Jaina spends her time desperately searching for any trace of her missing boy. Five years pass. Now working as a perfumer, she is summoned to the crown prince’s residence, and the gears of fate between Jaina and Cecil begin to turn once more.
